We once again partner up with one of the most prestigious comedy festivals in all of Canada, The Winnipeg Comedy Festival. Every show will feature a different headliner and we’ve been known to be the unofficial ‘clubhouse’ during the week, so you’ll never know who might come down to do a quick warm up set for their gala taping.
Jess Salomon is a Canadian comedian who recently made the move to New York with her Muslim wife because she has excellent comedic timing. Since making the move to the USA, Jess was selected to be a 2017 StandUP NBC finalist and had her stand up featured on SiriusXM’s Raw Dog. She’s done lots of cool festivals in America like the Laughing Skull Festival, San Francisco Sketch Fest and the Boston Comedy Festival. In Canada she’s been in Just for Laugh’s OFF JFL, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, and the Odd Block Comedy Festival as well as on CBC’s “The Debaters”. Her stand up has aired on CBC Television and can be heard on SiriusXM’s “Canada Laughs” and CBC’s “LOL”. Fun fact: before comedy Jess used to be a U.N. war crimes lawyer. The jury is still out on whether this was a good move.
Since her comedy debut, Eman El-Husseini has racked up an impressive list of credits. Traveling across Canada, the U.S and the Middle East she covers a wide range of topics, from how lesbians are the new gentlemen, to her parents’ wedding anniversary landing on, you guessed it, September 11th. A media darling of sorts, Eman has been featured in major Canadian newspapers such as The National Post, The Toronto Star and The Montreal Gazette. She has also appeared regularly on radio stations such as CJAD, CBC, and CKUT. Her TV credits include a half hour comedy special on CTV, Comedy Network and the iChannel. Eman just launched the podcast Unheard Of: Sex, Religion and Politics at the Dinner Table, interviewing a wide range of ordinary people with unconventional lives. Her guests vary from a former Jehovah’s Witness, to people who are transgender and asexual, to a convert to Islam and a porn actor, to name a few.
